About Us
The central role of the Korea National Institute of Health (KNIH) is to establish a scientific basis and evidence underlying health policy and national research infrastructures.

What We Do

Infectious Diseases

Conduct and support national research to control and prevent infectious diseases

• Vaccine development for notable or emerging infectious diseases
• Research on the mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment of infectious diseases
• Utilizing pathogen resources in the National Culture Collection for Pathogen (NCCP)

Chronic Diseases

Conduct national research on chronic diseases to extend health span

• Acting as a national commend center for research on chronic diseases
• Supporting research infrastructure by building up cooperative networks

Genomic Research

Strengthen public health research to realize precision medicine’s promise

• Developing and constructing the Korean genome analyzing system
• Conducting genome science projects
• Management of infrastructure: cohorts and biobanks
• Operation of the Biomedical Science Library and e-library
