• Masks worn during class • Mask checks during meetings and breaks |
• Strict maintenance of worker logs • No contact with other facilities other than assigned |
• Additional dividers between desks and zig-zag seat arrangement • Eating alone recommended |
Lessons |
① Compliance with mask wearing and infection prevention measures ② Improved work environment to prevent infection (e.g. partitions) ③ Minimized non-essential contact movement during work |
○ The following lessons can be learned from the above examples:
- In the case of Young Rembrandts, the teacher who tested positive had worn masks during lecture and followed infection prevention protocols.
- Market Kurly logistics center kept a thorough daily log of workers who came in for work and minimized contact with other facilities.
- In the case of Hyundai Home Shopping call center, people were recommended to eat alone, and seats were arrnaged in zig-zag patterns with partitions installed between seats.
□ Border screening of a Russia-flagged ship (Ice Stream) that entered through Busan Port found 3 people with symptoms. In response, all 21 people on board the ship were tested for COVID-19. In total, 16 cases were confirmed.
- Testing is underway for 176 contacts including pilots/CIQ (customs, immigration, quarantine), interpreter, agency, repair service, unloading crew and on-board crew.
* Additional 84 contacts have been identified related to another ship (Ice Crystal) from the same company
□ Central Disaster Management Headquarters noted that at the current level of new daily cases, there is sufficient capacity of hospital beds and treatment availability. Currently, medical resources for COVID-19 treatment are allocated based on severity of patient to ensure that each patient receives appropriate care.
○ There are 546 hospital beds in total nationwide for treatment of severe and critical COVID-19 patients, and 117 are currently available to admit new patients (as of 22 June).
- Infectious Disease Hospitals for treatment of patients with mild to moderate symptoms have 3,043 beds, of which 2,042 are currently available.
- There are currently 4 Living Treatment Centers for asymptomatic and mild cases. 1 will be added in Seoul Metropolitan Region on 24 June. More will be added in Chungcheong and other regions.
○ To prepare for a large scale outbreak, sharing of hospital bed availability at regional level and nation –wide patient referral and transfer system is being planned.
□ Korea National Institute of Health announced that 6th meeting of inter-departmental working level task force for COVID-19 response will be held tomorrow (24 June) to discuss clinical trial support, vaccine development, and mask/PPE supply and demand.
□ KCDC expressed gratitude for the 185 recovered people who signed up to participate in the development of COVID-19 plasma therapy and encouraged more eligible people to participate.
○ Plasma therapy requires a large amount of blood as it involves formulating a concentrated form of the antibodies and immunoglobulins from the blood of people who have recovered from COVID-19.
○ People aged 18-64 who have been confirmed with COVID-19, fully recovered, discharged (released) from isolation (at least 14 days ago) are able to participate.
* Participating hospitals: Korea University Ansan Hospital, Keimyung Unviersity Dongsan Hospital, Kyungpook National University Hospital, Daegu Fatima Hospital / For inquiries, dial 1522-6487
○ Convalescent plasma therapy has been given to 17 COVID-19 patients in 5 medical institutions.
□ Central Disaster Management Headquarters announced that it will designate direct-sale promotion facilities, logistics centers, large after-school private academies (capacity 300 or above), and buffets as high risk facilities in light of recent outbreaks.
○ With high risk facility designation, owners/staff and users of the above 4 types of high-risk facilities must comply with core infection prevention measures beginning 18:00 of Tuesday, 23 June.
