COVID-19 vaccination and AEFI update (March 4)

COVID-19 Vaccination Task Force announced on March 4, 2021 that 3 more cases of deaths following COVID-19 vaccination and 1 case of anaphylactic shock were reported today, which will be included in the statistics reported tomorrow. Investigation into epidemiology and assessment of causal association will be conducted.

 

A male inpatient at a convalescent hospital, aged between 50 and 59, received AstraZeneca vaccine for COVID-19 on March 2 around 9:00. He was confirmed dead around 2:00 a.m. of March 4, about 41 hours after receiving the vaccine.

 

A male inpatient at a convalescent hospital aged 50-59 received AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine around 11:00 on March 3. He died about 15 hours after receiving the vaccine, around 2 a.m. of March 4.

 

A woman in her 20s who was a resident at a facility for people with severe disabilities, received AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on March 2 around 11:00. She died about 15 hours after receiving the vaccine, around 5:30 a.m. on March 4.

 

A female inpatient at a convalescent hospital, in her 50s, received AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine around 14:00 of March 3. After 10 minutes, she experienced shortness of breath and epinephrine was administered. She recovered and returned to the convalescent hospital around 15:30.

 

The Vaccination Task Force is working with local governments for investigation.
