On Thursday, September 19, KDCA Commissioner Dr. Youngmee Jee visited U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) and the Brian D. Allgood Army Community Hospital (BDAACH). During her visit, she met with Major General Douglas K. Clark, Director of Plans and Policy, to discuss ways to enhance collaboration between KDCA and USFK in the prevention and response to infectious diseases within local communities.

The visit was part of ongoing public health cooperation between Korea and the United States. Both sides engaged in extensive discussions, highlighting key areas for collaboration, including the sharing of infectious disease information through the SOFA Disease Prevention and Control  Subcommittee, participation in Adaptive Shield Tabletop Exercise, and laboratory cooperation.

“During the COVID-19 Omicron outbreak at USFK bases in January 2022, KDCA, local governments, and USFK worked closely to prevent the spread of the virus in communities,” said Dr. Jee. “By strengthening our collaboration with USFK, we can further improve early detection and enhance rapid response to future health threats, such as emerging infectious diseases.”
