Basis for the Establishment of the Comprehensive Situation Room
Article 8-5 (1) of the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act
- The Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency shall establish and operate a permanent emergency situation room to carry out tasks such as collecting and disseminating infectious disease information, managing situations, and taking initial actions and command in urgent cases of infectious diseases being introduced or spreading.
Responsibilities of the Comprehensive Situation Room
Reporting and response to infectious disease emergencies
- Monitoring and emergency response to domestic and foreign infectious diseases 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
- Situation occurrence
- Occurrence of suspected cases of new infections
- Occurrence of suspected biological terrorism incidents, etc.
- Situation room reception
- Self-reporting of suspected patients
- Report to medical institutions and city/provincial (health centers)
- Report to other departments and agencies
- Situation dissemination
- Support for initial response and dissemination of situation to the responsible department

- Coordinates with the KDCA Comprehensive Situation Room in handling public inquiries.

- Public Health Centers: Participates in the public service and consultation process.
