Overview of the Stockpiling and Management of Personal Protective Equipment and Quarantine Supplies
The government is stockpiling and managing personal protective equipment and medical devices in preparation for the outbreak of novel infectious diseases.
- In the case of personal protective equipment, it is continuously stockpiled to a level that can respond for the initial 6 months.
- Government-supported medical equipment for COVID-19 response is being managed centrally by the Disease Control Agency to ensure efficient management and timely support during crisis situations.
Establishment and Operation of the Onsite Supply System for Quarantine Supplies
By operating a stockpiling warehouse for personal protective equipment, a swift and stable supply system is established.
- Level D personal protective equipment consists of 9 types (protective suits, gloves, N95 masks, face shields, goggles, etc.) that are continuously stockpiled and distributed across 3 warehouse locations
To achieve integrated management of medical equipment, the Guidelines for Integrated Management of Government-Supported Medical Equipment for COVID-19 have been established and communicated to relevant agencies, including local governments.
- Standards have been established for the use, storage, and relocation (transfer and assignment) of equipment to be utilized for infectious disease response in normal and crisis situations, and government-supported medical equipment is registered and managed in the Integrated Management System for Disaster Resources (KRMS).
